What is chikungunya?
Chikungunya is a viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes. It occurs most often in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Pacific Islands, but travel-related cases have been reported in US territories. Symptoms include fever and joint pain, as well as headache, muscle pain, and rash.
Providers must report suspected or confirmed chikungunya cases.
