Your voice. Your power.

Do you live, work, go to school, or have kids who go to school in the 98404 or 98409 ZIP codes? You have the power to help decide how to spend $100,000 to bring arts, culture, heritage and science projects to your neighborhood!

Public Health Centers for Excellence at Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department and the City of Tacoma are bringing community-driven opportunities to East and South Tacoma.

Through a unique participatory planning and budgeting effort, you get to decide how to spend public money on these projects. The money comes from Tacoma Creates, a voter-approved initiative that expands equitable access to art and culture.

Participatory Planning and Budgeting

The City selected these 2 neighborhoods, which are among the Health Department’s Communities of Focus, because they will benefit from fair chances to be healthy. Connecting with neighbors, making decisions about these investments and improving civic engagement all help you become healthier.

If you live in 98404 or 98409, you have 3 chances to get involved:

1. Tell us what you think. What kinds of projects would you like to see? You have until Dec. 31 to send them our way. It only takes a moment and can improve access to enriching experiences. You can take the survey in:

2. Stay informed. Want to stay up to date on this process? Sign up for our email list.
