New co-location gives customers one-stop shopping at Pierce County Annex, Health Department

It’s OK, we promise.

It makes us a little sad, of course, but we do understand.

As much as you enjoy our smiling faces, you don’t want to spend any more time at government offices than you absolutely must.

That’s why we teamed up with our friends at the Pierce County Annex to provide easy one-stop shopping for the services you rely on most. Many things that used to be available at the Annex or Health Department are now offered in both buildings—saving you time, money and effort.

“People come in at the beginning of life to get birth certificates and at the end of life to get death records, but now we're able to help fill in in-between,” said Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department Director of Health Anthony L-T Chen. “Things like passports, business licenses and marriage certificates.”

Now, when you come to our office, you’ll find staff from the Pierce County Auditor’s office working in our newly refurbished Vital Records office. They’ll be able to get you things like:

  • Passports
  • Marriage licenses
  • Pet licenses

Meanwhile, at the Annex, you’ll find we’ve expanded our septic- and drinking-water permitting services. It can be a real time-saver for people who are in the middle of a project, and a great opportunity for staff from different agencies to work together for you.

“It’s great for our engineers to be able to just walk across the hall and actually talk to the Health Department representative that’s reviewing the application in order to find a solution for our customers,” said Melanie Halsan, the Assistant Director at Pierce County Planning & Public Works.

Stop by and see what we have to offer! We promise to make the most of what little time we’ll have together.
