Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department is working to create and sustain a comprehensive response to all forms of violence. Our projects include:
Domestic Violence Prevention:
Domestic violence refers to violence and abuse used by one person against someone with whom they have an intimate or family-like relationship, including people who are dating or married, living together, or even related.
- What is family or domestic violence?
- How can friends and family members help someone they care about?
- How can clergy, health care providers and employers help prevent domestic violence as well as help victims?

Childhood Violence Prevention:
By preventing violent behaviors in very young children, we can reduce violent behaviors later in life. Learn about local efforts and how you can be involved.
Handgun Violence Prevention:
Our Lok-it-up campaign stresses the importance of safe storage of firearms to reduce accidents and suicides. Find out more about this campaign.
