Birth and Death Records

Effective February 5, 2009, the Office of Vital Records will move to Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department's main building at 3629 S D St, Tacoma, WA 98418.

Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department will be closed Friday, February 12, 2010 for a furlough day and Monday, February 15, 2010 in observance of President's Day. For more information on Health Department furlough days, click here.

Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, Office of Vital Records, provides birth and death certificates for the following:

  • Birth and death records from 1907 to present for Pierce County
  • Copies of birth records from 1887 to present for Pierce County
  • Birth records from 1921 to present for Washington State
  • Assistance with the Automated Birth Certificate System from 1921 to present Statewide
Death certificates and permits for burial and cremation may be issued to include permits for removal of remains and transfer of remains to other counties, states or countries.
