Free Family Fun Nights at the Nature Center

June 20, 2012

Environmental educators from the City of Tacoma and Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department will lead families through hands-on learning during two “Family Fun Nights” this summer.

Family Fun Nights are designed for families with children ages 5 and older and will include hands-on activities, crafts and sing-along songs about water, slugs, trees and Puget Sound. Healthy fruit snacks will be served both evenings.

There are two Family Fun Nights to choose from (you can attend one or both):

Worms & Dirt Up-close: Find out how garden soil is made, and who makes it

Wednesday, July 11, 2012, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Tacoma Nature Center, 1919 S. Tyler St., Tacoma

Drain Rangers: Learn how to keep water clean and earn your Drain Ranger badge

Wednesday, July 18, 2012, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Tacoma Nature Center, 1919 S. Tyler St., Tacoma

Family Fun Nights are designed to teach parents and children about backyard composting and other ways to keep streams, drinking water and Puget Sound clean. These events are sponsored by City of Tacoma Public Works Environmental Services, Metro Parks Tacoma and the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.

These family-friendly events are free, but space is limited so registration is required. To register, contact the Tacoma Nature Center at (253) 591-6439.
