Swine Flu Vaccine Clinics - November 23 and 24

November 23, 2009

Swine flu vaccine is available in Puyallup today and Tacoma tomorrow to individuals in one of the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department's five priority groups. That means that pregnant women, certain children and people who care for them and also certain adolescents may be vaccinated in addition to those -- healthcare workers with direct patient contact -- for whom the two clinics were planned. Both clinics are sponsored by Multicare Health System in partnership with Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.

Today's (11/23/2009) clinic is being held until 7 pm at Good Samaritan Hospital, 407 14th Ave SE. IMPORTANT: Parking is off-campus. Because of a construction project at the site, parking is in the Bronze Lot on 9th Avenue SE a block east of the Fair's Gold Gate at 9th and Meridian. A shuttle from the Bronze Lot runs every 10 minutes between the parking lot and the Education Classroom, where the clinic is being held.

Tomorrow's (11/24/2009) clinic will be held from 10 am to 5 pm at Allenmore Hospital, 1901 S Union Ave, Tacoma.

Here are the five groups eligible for vaccinations at either clinic:

  • Pregnant women;
  • People who live with or care for children under 6 months of age;
  • Healthcare and emergency medical service workers who have direct contact with patients or infectious material;
  • Children 6 months through 4 years of age;
  • Children and adolescents 5 through 18 years who have medical conditions putting them at higher risk for flu-related complications.
