Alcohol and Drug Services

Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department supports healthy people in healthy communities.  Through our Treatment Service program, part of our Strengthening Families Division, we provide outpatient opioid substitution maintenance and monitoring services for individuals who are opioid dependent.  Evidence-based groups and treatment modalities are offered with the goal of promoting abstinence, while supporting the patient's overall recovery, health and wellbeing.

Specific chemical dependency efforts include:

  • substance abuse prevention education
  • substance abuse counseling and treatment
  • outpatient addiction treatment
  • individual, group, and family therapy
  • counseling, education, tool and skill development
  • resource identification and referral

We offer additional programs and services to safeguard and enhance the health of children, families and disparate populations in Pierce County.
