Federal Food Stamp Program

On October 1, 2008,  the new name for the Federal Food Stamp Program became SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

SNAP helps qualifying families afford the food they need for good health. SNAP benefits are provided on electronic card that is used like an ATM or bank card to buy food at most grocery stores.
