A lot of people enjoy swimming! It is an inexpensive and usually healthy activity. However, swimming can make you sick if the water has disease-causing organisms. During the summer we test water at popular swimming beaches for some of these organisms. For 2016 we are testing water at:

  • Six Freswater (Lake) Beaches (map)
    • American Lake - American Lake North and Harry Todd Parks
    • Lake Tapps - Harry Todd and North Lake Tapps Parks
    • Spanaway Lake - Spanaway Park North Beach and Main Swimming Area
  • Nine Marine Water (Puget Sound) Beaches:
      • Brown's Point Lighthouse Park
      • Dash Point County Park
      • Jack Hyde Park
      • Owen Beach at Point Defiance Park
      • Purdy Sandspit
      • Ruston Way Waterfront
      • Saltars Point Park
      • Sunnyside Beach
      • Titlow Beach
