A lot of people enjoy swimming! It is an inexpensive and usually healthy activity. However, swimming can make you sick if the water has disease-causing organisms. During the summer we test water at popular swimming beaches for some of these organisms. For 2016 we are testing water at:


Six Freshwater (Lake) Beaches (map)

  • American Lake - American Lake North and Harry Todd Parks
  • Lake Tapps - Alan Yorke and North Lake Tapps Parks
  • Spanaway Lake - Spanaway Park North Beach and Main Swimming Area

Nine Marine Water (Puget Sound) Beaches:

  • Brown's Point Lighthouse Park
  • Dash Point County Park
  • Jack Hyde Park
  • Owen Beach at Point Defiance Park
  • Purdy Sandspit
  • Ruston Way Waterfront
  • Saltars Point Park
  • Sunnyside Beach
  • Titlow Beach
