Pierce County Swimming Beaches
Swimming is an inexpensive and usually healthy activity enjoyed by many. Swimming can make you sick, however, if the water has disease-causing organisms. During the summer we test water at popular swimming beaches for some of these organisms. This year we test water at:
- Six beaches at three lakes: Spanaway, American and Tapps (map of beaches);
- Eleven salt (marine) water swimming beaches: Dash Point County Park, Browns Point Lighthouse Park, Ruston Way, Owens Beach, Titlow Beach, Chamber Creek Properties Beach, Sunnyside Beach, Kopachuck State Park, Fox Island (future PenMet Park), Purdy Sandspit, and Penrose State Park.
