Hazardous Chemicals Around the Home
All of us use chemicals around our homes. We use them to keep our houses clean, to protect our belongings from the weather, to keep our car running and our grass green. When using these chemicals, it's important to use them wisely in order to protect your health and the environment. It's also important to properly store these chemicals when they're not being used and to safely dispose "leftovers." Spilled or improperly disposed chemicals can pollute the ground and water including groundwater and water in lakes and streams.
All City of Tacoma and Piece County residents can safely dispose of household hazardous waste free of charge at the HazWaste Place located at the Tacoma Landfill. HazWaste Place is open seven days a week from 8AM to 6PM. The address is: 3510 S. Mullen St. which is off of Center St between Orchard and Tyler Streets next to the Home Depot store. You can call them at (253) 591-5418.
You may also want to consider using less toxic chemicals around your home. Doing so will not only decrease the possibility of polluting the environment but will also be healthier for you, your family and pets.
