Environmental Health Priorities

Environmental health involves understanding hazards in our homes and communities, and preventing them from harming our health.

The Health Department was awarded a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to find out what environmental health issues are most important to county residents, and what we should do about them.

To do this, Pierce County Coalition for Environmental Health Priorities regional workgroups have been meeting monthly in three areas of Pierce County to share information, identify priorities, and develop action plans.  Please click on the workgroup in your region for priorities, meeting agendas, notes, and more:
Regional Workgroup Priorities:
South East Pierce County Priorities
Central Pierce County Priorities
Gig Harbor/Key Peninsula Priorities
Environmental Health Priorities Resources

Please RSVP to Marianne Seifert at mseifert@tpchd.org or 253 798-3823 if you plan to attend.  All of our meetings are open to the public.

Workgroup members will:
  • Share environmental health concerns and information
  • Decide which environmental health issues are most important
  • Develop action plans for what we should do about these issues
We would like the workgroups to include people from all walks of life, to make sure we understand and consider a wide range of issues and solutions. Incentives such as gift cards and food will be provided to workgroup members in appreciation of their time and work.
