Oral Health Program

The Dental Health Program educates Pierce County residents about oral health. This program monitors and encourages dental health education in schools and early childhood centers, as well as mother, infant and adult programs. In addition, this program provides select services to residents who have limited access to care.

ABCD or Access to Baby and Child Dentistry focuses on preventive and restorative dental care for Medicaid-eligible children from birth to age six, with emphasis on enrollment by age one. The Mentorship Program collaborates with Pierce College Dental Hygiene Program, Eastern Washington State University and the University of Washington. Students participate in oral health activities and receive first-hand experience in providing oral health services. Students are exposed to community and public health specialties—while also fulfilling our need to provide program services throughout the County—and graduates attain knowledge of public health concepts.
